Google Search Gets Gen AI in India

Google has been experimenting with integrating generative AI capabilities into Search over the last few months. They have learned a lot from people trying Search Generative Experience (SGE) in Search Labs and also added new capabilities such as the ability to incorporate photos and videos into responses to travel and local information. For example, if someone searches for “How to drape a saree,” they will find detailed instructions for various draping styles. A video clip will also be included in the results.


The company said that the search generative experience (SGE) will provide helpful user evaluations in addition to local information, such as things to do in the place you are visiting. For instance, if you search “Is Tajmahal in Agra wheelchair friendly?”, user evaluations about that topic would appear in the result generated using generative AI.
