Biotechnology

Overview

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2002. It offers B.Tech and M.Tech Biotechnology under Anna University, Chennai. The B.Tech Industrial Biotechnology programme was started in the year 2003 with an intake of 30 students/batch. The intake was then increased to 60 in 2007; 60 to 120 in the year 2013 and 120 to 180 in the year 2015. The B.Tech Biotechnology programme was re-accredited by NBA for 6 years during 2017-18 academic year. The 2 year M.Tech. Biotechnology programme was started in 2008-2009. The Department of Biotechnology has been recognized as a collaborative research centre for M.S/PhD programme from 2008 onwards by Anna University, Chennai.
