Overview
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 1996 and offers a four-year Undergraduate Programme (B.E.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The programme is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), United Kingdom, for the period 2016–2023, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and global standards. The Department has also been recognised as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai, for guiding research scholars in various domains of Electrical Engineering. The department boasted a prominent staff team with 18 doctorates and 7 post graduates who have registered for Ph.D in various fields of Electrical Engineering and have a rich industry, research and teaching experience. The department houses the Siemens Collaborated Electrical Drives and Automation Laboratory and the R&D Automation Collaborated Special Electrical Machines Laboratory, jointly worth nearly ₹3 Crores, providing industry-level hands-on training and research exposure. The Department has secured research and development funding of ₹97.74 Lakhs from various government agencies and has also established a Centre of Excellence in Real-Time Simulation Laboratory in collaboration with OPAL-RT, Bangalore.
