PROJECTEXPERIMENTS

To develop and characterize functional biomaterials (nanofibers, hydrogels, films, scaffolds, adsorbents, nano composites etc.,) from natural biopolymers for medicinal and healthcare applications.
To develop in vitro animal culture models for therapeutic applications.
To investigate biomaterials and compounds for the bioactivity such as cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, cell proliferation and adhesion, targeted gene expression, anticancer and apoptosis using in vitro animal cell line models.

Provide unique, cutting-edge resources to students at all levels so they may pursue their biomaterial research and animal cell culture techniques.
Facilitate fabrication and characterization of biopolymer based novel biomaterials-related to biomedical and healthcare applications for professional and scientific development.
Teach individuals and cultivate research on biomaterials and tissue regeneration to promote their research publication, patent filing, participation in biomaterials and tissue regeneration related conferences, workshops, product and project design contests, guest lectures etc.
Technology transfer of biomaterials for commercialization and entrepreneurship.
To conduct FDPs / Workshops / Seminars for the benefit of students, faculty members and external participants from Industries and Institutions.

The special lab on Biomaterials and Tissue Regeneration focuses on demonstrating the up-to-date techniques in biomaterials development and animal cell culture. It facilitates the students with hands-on experience in animal cell line handling, allied techniques and advanced assays in line with disease models. Provides a platform for students to acquire guidance from the experts in Biomaterials domains. Moreover, the lab also aims at supporting hands-on sessions while conducting national/international short-term training programs and workshops.
